SCHWINN AC PERFORMANCE INDOOR GROUP CYCLE CONSUMER ALERT - MARCH 2010

Consumer Alert March 2010Schwinn AC Performance Indoor Group Cycle Consumer Alert - March 2010

The new Schwinn AC Performance model is without question, the hottest bike to hit the industry since the Star Trac NXT in 2006.  All of the sudden there are A LOT of Schwinn AC Performance models available online and at the giant general fitness equipment warehouses.  The AC Performance bike retails between $1800-$2200 new in the box with a 3 year factory warranty.

Here are some CRITICAL facts about this new bike.

1. The first several thousand models off of the production line had  internal mechanical hiccups; these are all correctable , IF you know about them, know HOW to correct them, are interested in the end users best interests and correct them BEFORE you resell the bikes.

2. If the price on a DEMO AC Performance is under $1000, it’s a fairly good indicator the bike was bought at a serious price reduction and immediately resold without knowledge of or attempts to make the corrections.

3. Many of these bikes are being resold WITHOUT the corrections being made, hence the lowball pricing.

4. Many of these much needed corrections wont show up until the bike starts to break-in after 80-100 hours of use.

5. These corrections are not simple, MANY are VERY complicated. Typically something even an above average to decent mechanic WON’T be able to perform.

6. Buying one of these already assembled at a low ball price and having one of these issues develop and then taking it to a bicycle shop will MOST likely NOT solve the issue. It WILL cost you, add to the overall expense of the bike and simply rob you of the optimal experience of the HOTTEST bike in the industry.

7. Calling the company you bought it from (usually a “We sell everything under the sun and specialize in nothing” type of business) and getting a solution or resolution will be highly unlikely.

8. If the corrections are made “correctly”, the buyer, or end user would never notice and they will own the hottest bike in the industry.

9. ALL of the AC Performance bikes purchased by StudioCycles have been  torn down to the frames and completely gone through, AND we offer our EXCLUSIVE lifetime warranty and lifetime parts replacement.

How does StudioCycles know all of this?

1. We not only discovered the issues while consulting on the AC series bikes LAST year, we also wrote the corrections that Schwinn implemented as OFFICIAL corrective measures.

2. We are one of only two Stairmaster / Schwinn Fitness dealers in southern California.

3. We are an official Schwinn Distributor.

4. We did the installs at Sports Club LA and Sports Club LA Beverly Hills.

5. We have done ALL of the AC series bike installs and corrections at the Equinox clubs from San Francisco to San Diego.

6. We have built and tuned over 1000 of the Schwinn AC Performance series bikes in the last six months.

Most companies that sell new bikes or turn around models like the first run AC Performance bikes have ONE attractive feature: LOWBALL pricing.  ONLY the first run of the Schwinn AC performance bikes are being prostituted online. Current new in the box AC Performance models are selling at 1600.00 to 1800.00.

If the company offering the AC series bikes at lowball prices doesn’t talk about the corrective measures and the pictures and text appear to be copy pasted, that’s a VERY good indication that you are looking at a bike that’s being sold without acknowledgement or correction of the known issues.

If another company selling the bike tells you or it says full factory warranty, don’t rest assured. If you have a problem, it WILL NOT get fixed simply or easily. In fact, at the very least, you SHOULD save bookmark STUDIOCYCLES.COM because after you’ve tried EVERYONE else and it’s STILL not right, Call us.

Finally, Jeff Wimmer of StudioCycles has written to date, 6 different technical manuals, with over 50,000 in circulation. Right now, Volume 7 is being written for the new Schwinn AC Series bikes. If you go to Spinning.com or Star Trac.com, you will see our manuals for sale on these websites. WHY, because WE are the indoor cycling authority.

We will 50 of these left in our warehouse  with ALL corrections made, we will include OUR exclusive lifetime warranty and lifetime parts replacement to all consumers.

Package deals will be available to commercial facilities.

Star Tract Spinner NXT Consumer Alert - June 2010

Consumer Alert March 2010Star Tract Spinner NXT Consumer Alert - June 2010

I recently built some Spinner NXT’s for the New York Jets. Out of the box the rear sprocket or “chainwheel” had a wobble in it like a bent bicycle wheel. This causes a serious variable in the chain tension and it can also be bad enough to cause the chainwheel to hit or drag on the inside of the outer chainguard. After setting up an appointment with personel from Star Trac, we met at Studiocycles and went through the bike and discovered the taper on the Bottom Bracket Spindle was deformed. The Fix: Replace either the entire Bottom Bracket or replace with a normal Star Trac bottom Bracket Spindle. Note: The Bottom Bracket on All Star Trac Spinner series bikes is PROPRIETARY.
