Hot Tips

Every month BikeTekUSA will bring you a new “Hot Tip”. It will be something useful and also on a subject that is applicable to both facilities that have heavy class loads and the single bike owner. All Monthly "Hot Tips” are written exclusively by Jeff Wimmer. If you have a subject that you would like us to consider addressing in our “Monthly Hot Tips’ section; e-mail us at: HotTips@biketekusa.org.

Hot Tip of the Month - May 2010: “Axle nuts on the Star Trac NXT”

I’ve recently noticed the NXT is coming out of the box with 14mm axle nuts. Not sure why this is happening, but if your used to adjusting the flywheel or drivetrain on the NXT and you’ve become accustomed to using a 15mm socket, pay close attention to any newer models. Using a 15mm socket on a 14mm axle nut could strip the axle nuts and render the bike unsafe.
